In the summer of 2023, I took a sports car road trip with my friends Rob and Ross across the Channel Tunnel. Rob took his TVR Chimaera, and Ross chose his BMW Z3. Naturally, I chose my Porsche 911 Carrera S as the best compromise of mile munching, power, analogue feeling, and creature comforts.
We covered over 2500 miles of continental road through France, Italy, and Switzerland.
This gallery contains images from that trip, including a climb and photo walk through the Col de Torrent in Switzerland, and a trip up part of the Eiger glacier.
The alpine roads were simply fantastic – a perfect match for a 3.8 litre droptop flat 6.
In Italy, Rob’s TVR decided to start ridding itself of HT leads. This resulted in me re-crimping HT leads on the side of the road in the 35°C heat, in an attempt to turn his temporal V5 back into a V8.
